One of our ingredients is missing
I b'lieve I may have mentioned hithertofore, how I once made a mac-and-cheese but neglected to add the cheese? Well, I have now precisely mirrored that, by making a mac-and-cheese and neglecting to add the mac.

In my own defence, I should like to point out that there was also cauliflower and bacon and mushrooms galore, so the odd pasta shape was neither here nor there - well, specifically not there, until I was just about to add the tomatoes on the top. And then I did realise, and hastily stir in the orecchiete, so all was saved in the end. But still. Yup. Mac without the, um, mac...

*shakes head*

Mac & Cheese should be just Pasta (I'm not a purist on this one) and Cheese Sauce. Nothing else, except maybe pig products like bacon.

Vegetables are just a sop to the eat healthy thing.

See, by birth and upbringing I am with you on this one. That's how I always knew it: pasta and sauce and nothing more, at all, ever. It never crossed my mind that one might play with the holy duo - until I was staying with a college friend, and her mum made it with red peppers in the sauce, and it was yummy. So I was emboldened, and tossed a few mushrooms into my next one, and that was yummy also; and then I started topping it off with tomatoes, and hey, how's about a bit of bacon in there, and...

Slippery slopes. I have slupped them all.

Also, you see, in my upbringing, besides the Macaroni Cheese, there was the Cauliflower Cheese, which had cauliflower instead of macaroni; and you would not believe how long it took me to work out that hey, y'know, you could combine these two together...

My mum makes it with tomatoes on top and slices of boiled egg in sometimes. Tastes good...
